Sunday 14th August – bike **** – Early morning Two Rivers, Orwell to the Deben – sunny and hot.

With another 30-degree day we decided to get up early and take a flask to Landguard by the River Orwell getting down on the prom for 6.50. It was quite busy considering how early it is with swimmers, kayakers, cyclists and dog walkers as we headed towards the Manor. Across the lovely nature reserve at Landguard, only a few rabbits, must be too hot for them already! There was a far amount of litter on the beach, the manor car park and sadly we collected a bag full of rubbish left on the pier and beach, people just don’t deserve nice places if they can’t look after them! We enjoyed a peaceful cuppa with stunning views across the Orwell with a few yachts heading out with the sea like a mill pool with light breezes. Back to the prom with it really warming up now, Mag turns off up Bent Hill while I continue to Felixstowe Ferry bumping into long time friends Neil and Linda Hurrell also out on their bikes, stopping for a chat. I made it to the lovely Ferry in the end before taking the short route across the golf course and home for breakfast. Despite it being very hot now I still managed my exercises in the garden, then lunch and we head to Lidl via The Dip to check the conditions as the breeze was building but it was not enough to foil with no beach as it was high water and it was pretty crowded too!
